چکیده
Contemporary preclinical models suggest that abnormal functioning of a brain network consisting the hippocampus, midbrain and striatum plays critical role in pathophysiology schizophrenia. Previous neuroimaging studies examined individual aspects this model schizophrenia patients individuals at clinical high risk for psychosis. However, exact has not been translated to human with therefore it is currently unknown how altered patients. Here we investigated resting state functional connectivity hippocampus-midbrain-striatum patients, using Magnetic Resonance Imaging. Based on models, functionally validated regions comprising anterior subiculum (SUB), limbic (LS), ventral tegmental area (VTA) associative (AS) was 47 51 healthy controls. Schizophrenia demonstrated significantly lower compared controls (p = 0.036). Particular reductions were found between SUB LS (0.002 ± 0.315 0.116 0.224, p 0.040) VTA AS (0.230 0.268 0.356 0.285, 0.026). In associated positive, negative or general symptom scores. Reduced consistent concept dysconnectivity as key feature disorder. Our results support notion

Altered resting-state functional connectivity and anatomical connectivity of hippocampus in schizophrenia.
Hippocampus has been implicated in participating in the pathophysiology of schizophrenia. However, the functional and anatomical connectivities between hippocampus and other regions are rarely concurrently investigated in schizophrenia. In the present study, both functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) during rest and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) were performed on 17 patients with parano...
متن کاملFunctional connectivity of human striatum: a resting state FMRI study.
Classically regarded as motor structures, the basal ganglia subserve a wide range of functions, including motor, cognitive, motivational, and emotional processes. Consistent with this broad-reaching involvement in brain function, basal ganglia dysfunction has been implicated in numerous neurological and psychiatric disorders. Despite recent advances in human neuroimaging, models of basal gangli...
متن کاملClassification of schizophrenia patients based on resting-state functional network connectivity
There is a growing interest in automatic classification of mental disorders based on neuroimaging data. Small training data sets (subjects) and very large amount of high dimensional data make it a challenging task to design robust and accurate classifiers for heterogeneous disorders such as schizophrenia. Most previous studies considered structural MRI, diffusion tensor imaging and task-based f...
متن کاملWhole brain resting state functional connectivity abnormalities in schizophrenia.
BACKGROUND Schizophrenia has been associated with disturbances in brain connectivity; however the exact nature of these disturbances is not fully understood. Measuring temporal correlations between the functional MRI time courses of spatially disparate brain regions obtained during rest has recently emerged as a popular paradigm for estimating brain connectivity. Previous resting state studies ...
متن کاملCognition and resting-state functional connectivity in schizophrenia.
Individuals with schizophrenia consistently display deficits in a multitude of cognitive domains, but the neurobiological source of these cognitive impairments remains unclear. By analyzing the functional connectivity of resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fcMRI) data in clinical populations like schizophrenia, research groups have begun elucidating abnormalities in the intr...
